Short answer : Yes! You should definitely send a thank you email after the interview.
Sending a thank you email is important. It shows your appreciation for the opportunity and that you genuinely care about this position.
Here are a few tips on how to put together a thank you email :
Do’s 👍 👍
Send it within 24 hours after the interview. This is the time when the interviewer still remembers you.
Highlight something that stood out from the interview. If you talked about a certain project or if he shared advice with you, mention it in your thank you email. This again will help them remember you.
Mention the job position in the title. Interviewers generally receive many emails, so you want them to know exactly what you are thanking them for.
Send it to all your interviewers. If you were interviewed by a panel of interviewers, make sure you extend the appreciation to each one of them. You may never know who has the final say on your job.
Don’t re-write your cover letter. Do not repeat all the things you said when you were applying. The shorter the sweeter.
Don’t be informal. Sometimes the interviewer might be friendly, but that does not give you the right to use slang language. Maintain the professionalism.
Don’t pester your interviewers. The whole purpose of this note is to show appreciation and not to pitch yourself again. Do not keep on sending many emails just to say thank you..
Don’t make grammatical and spelling errors. Make sure you edit your work before you send it out.
